Starting your involvement in the Market requires you to register with one that will execute your trades.
To manage your Money you open an account with a Bank.
To manage your Forex involvement or your Stock involvement for that matter, you need to open an account with a Broker.

Opening an account does not cost you.
The fees you are charged are the Spread between the Ask and the Bid prices from your trades.

However you should be very careful choosing your Dealer.
The opportunities that Forex trading provides are growing constantly.
Accompanying this growth is the widespread of scams.
So do not get tempted by savory offers.
Stay away and do not fall prey to scamers.
You are investing real money and you need trust between the parties.
Use your common sense. Choose a legitimate company, a certified government registered one.
Registration with the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) is a must. And regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)
Do not get involved with companies that do not disclose their background information.
Do not get lured by any company advising you to trade in the inter-bank market. In this market the currency transactions are negotiated in a wobbly network of large companies and financial institutions.

When you are satisfied, open your live account but do not trade yet with real money. Exercise the System with Demo Accounts for at least 4 more weeks.
Then start trading with a Portfolio of no more than a few thousand $ of your own money. Remember you trade with leverage so it does not matter. You are bound to make mistakes in the beginning, so minimize your losses while still learning.
Only when you feel comfortable and knowledgeable should you trade the full amount you intend to invest.
